Meat Lovers Gain More Weight Over Time: This Week on AOL Health

New research finds that meat eaters are more likely to pack on -- and hold on to -- extra pounds. European scientists discovered that people with a diet high in meat have a higher risk of gaining weight over a five-year period than those with the same caloric intake who ate less meat.

Poultry was the lead offender in the study, which was published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

Though weight in women increased a little less than in men, both gained about a pound each year.
