Jasmine Before

Every week, we introduce you to bloggers who share their weight-loss journeys and hefty doses of inspiration with their readers. This week's featured blogger is
Jasmine from Eat Move Write.

Name:
Jasmine Myers

Age: 28

Start Weight: 343 pounds

Current Weight: 155 pounds

Goal Weight: 130 pounds

My Weight-Loss Approach: My weight loss has been a bit different from other "healthy food" bloggers. I underwent gastric bypass surgery in May 2005 after a lifetime of obesity. At 343 pounds, I was more than 200 pounds overweight. Afterward, I threw myself into my weight loss, working out rigorously two or three hours nearly every day for two years and successfully shedding 200 pounds.

Jasmine Now

When I got down to my lowest weight of 142 pounds, I didn't know what to do with myself. I'd spent all that time eating as little as possible and exercising like a crazy person, and I didn't know how to be normal. I gained about 20 pounds back and I knew I had to do something. I joined an online community called SparkPeople, and then I began blogging. It became a very effective way for me to be accountable without going overboard.

Why I Wanted to Blog About It:
Again, it was about accountability. I didn't want to spend my life working out like crazy, but I also didn't want to gain my weight back. Blogging became a way of focusing on food and exercise in a healthy manner.

The Best Part of Blogging Is:
The people. I have truly loved reading other people's blogs. Getting to know these people and their stories has been a powerful motivating force in my life.

Best Comment I've Received:
All of them! I can't pick just one. They all make me smile.

What's Next for My Blog: I'm just working on taking my blog to that next level, making it easier to read and easier for me to respond to my readers. I'm also working hard to get down to 130 pounds, a weight that I haven't seen since I was a child!

As amazing a feat as losing 200 pounds is, Jasmine isn't the only one who's done it --
Sean lost 258 pounds while eating whatever he wanted (in moderation).
