The majority of the USA uses dialup! Actually, the majority of the country does not own or use a computer. I think this was a great suggestion to add a photo!
No, I didn't -- we recently had a report on this in a meeting to decide whether to go for broadband -- we didn't because we are in a rural area --
News reports in 2009 have noted a resurgence of dial-up access in the U.S. resulting from a recessionary economy, as a more affordable way of accessing the internet As telephone access is widely available, dial-up remains useful to many. Dial-up is usually the only choice available for rural or remote areas where broadband is not prevalent due to low population and demand.
Many inhabitants of rural areas who are willing to pay for broadband service cannot get it. Low population density causes high costs and low profits and prevents most providers from doing business in the rural United States.
In impoverished urban areas, many people are unable to afford the payments to bring broadband services into their homes. In 2008, roughly 50% of the United States population made an annual income of $50,000 or less. Of that half of the population, only 35% of the population could afford cost of monthly payments for broadband services.
