The Biggest Loser Resort at Fitness Ridge
Turns out, you totally can. Last year, Fitness Ridge Resort & Spa in Ivins, Utah, became the exclusive resort to the television phenomenon and was renamed The Biggest Loser Resort at Fitness Ridge. Fitness Ridge had recently been named one of the top 10 spas in the world, and since their philosophy of motivation and strictly controlled calories meshed so well with "The Biggest Loser," it was a natural fit.
Now, only a year after the merger, the concept has proved to be so popular that a second location is currently under construction and set to open this fall, this time in Malibu, Calif., a representative from The Biggest Loser Resort told That's Fit. Not only is this a testament to the popularity of the TV show, but it's also a clear example of just how much people are willing to pay to lose weight.
Because, yeah, you'll pay. For one week in a private room, you'll spend $2,195 in Utah and $2,695 in Malibu -- if you book four weeks at a time (which don't have to be used consecutively), you see a $195 per week discount. Double occupancy rooms get a price break, too: Utah is $1,795 a week or $6,400 a month, and Malibu costs $2,295 a week or $8,400 a month.
Sure, those prices are steep (don't even think about the all-inclusive, all you can eat and drink resorts you could visit for that kind of money), but for your investment, you'll get about six hours of physical exercise with a professional every day (including hiking, water aerobics, kickboxing, stretching and more), tasty food (think: French toast, lasagna) that doesn't top 1,200 calories a day, and lessons on how to keep it up once you head home. It's a lot of money, but maybe, just maybe, your health is worth it.
Would you spend this kind of money to spend time at a weight loss spa like The Biggest Loser Resort?
If not, how much would you spend for a week at a destination like this? Regardless of whether you'd shell out for time at The Biggest Loser Resort or not, you can probably learn some lessons from Season 9 of "The Biggest Loser." And guess what: They're free!
