Every week, we introduce you to bloggers who share their weight-loss journeys and hefty doses of inspiration with their readers. This week's featured blogger is Lindsey from Nutrition Mom.

Name:
Lindsey Celis

Age: 30

Height: 5 feet, 3 inches

Start Weight: 162 pounds

After Weight: 109 pounds

My story:
I was 21 when I had my first child and knew absolutely nothing about nutrition or exercise. I not only kept my pregnancy weight after I gave birth, but I continued to gain weight. Plus, I was never conscious of food and what impact it had on my body. I was inactive and consumed whatever I wanted in large quantities.

Then, not long after I had my daughter, I went to my doctor for a routine check up. She informed me that I was overweight and had very high blood pressure. She ran some tests, and the results showed that I had high triglycerides and fat in my blood. In fact, they were so high that she told me that if continued down this path, that I would likely die of a heart attack by age 45. I immediately began a low-sodium and low-fat diet, and I stopped smoking that day. That was my breaking point.

My weight loss approach: After getting the news from my doctor, I went to a local bookstore and bought almost every nutrition book I could find. I read every page of every single book, and I immediately began to eat healthier, cleaner foods. I also started reading the nutrition labels and cooking almost every meal at home. I ate frequent, small meals throughout the day (every two to three hours), I became a vegetarian, and I began exercising regularly. I have since had a second child and have continued my healthy eating and exercising throughout my pregnancy. I gained 15 pounds less with this pregnancy than with the last, and the weight came off three months after giving birth. I am now a nutrition, weight loss and wellness coach, and am pursuing a degree in Nutrition Science. I also started a health blog in order to give out daily tips to those in need of a little extra help.

Why I wanted to blog about it:
I wanted to blog about my story in the hopes that it will help inspire other people to possibly start living healthier lives. I hope that the tips and advice I give on the blog will help a lot of people out there struggling with weight issues.

The best part of blogging is:
I love being able to write a short story about what is on my mind that day.

Best feedback I've received:
Every comment is great. When someone tells me that something I have written about has helped them, it's amazing.

What's next for my blog: The plan is simple: to keep posting and helping people. I will continue to write in my blog daily and I will be soon linking it to my Facebook Nutrition page as well.
