Martha Beck on Fibromyalgia: This Week on AOL Health

Martha Beck -- life coach, author and O Magazine columnist -- was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 18 years ago and has been battling the condition with regular exercise and other techniques ever since.Fibromyalgia affects about 2 percent of the population, with more women than men suffering from chronic pain and fatigue caused by the condition.
AOL Health spoke to Beck, 47, on her experience with the condition and how she manages its symptoms. "People don't understand what fibromyalgia is because there is no physically observable cause," she said.
But with the help of awareness campaigns like Know Fibro, for which Beck is a spokesperson, fibromyalgia sufferers can easily learn more about the condition and how to control their pain.
