IHOP's New Diet Don't: Cheesecake Stuffed Pancakes
Posted on May 7th 2010 1:30PM by Vanessa VoltolinaLast week, IHOP introduced Pancake Stackers, a dish featuring crust-less cheesecake layered between two buttermilk pancakes, topped with your choice of strawberries, blueberry or cinnamon apple compote and whipped topping, which will be available at the pancake house nationwide through June 20.
So, just how bad is this dessert-for-breakfast meal?
According to ABC, IHOP does not provide nutritional information for its Pancake Stackers, but did say that a regular combo meal, which includes Pancake Stackers with strawberries, two eggs, bacon and hash browns, runs 1,250 calories. That's almost half your daily recommend calories. Even if you skip the bacon and hash browns, the duo of carb-loaded pancakes and high-fat cheesecake is a double whammy that's a nutritional nightmare.

While most chains offer nutritional information on their Web site, IHOP does not, making it hard for diners to plan ahead and make healthy choices. If you are heading to your local IHOP for a Mother's Day breakfast this weekend, we recommend you use common sense when placing your order. A breakfast high in protein and fiber is a great way to start your day, so eggs paired with whole-grain toast is a healthy option. If you've really got a hankering for pancakes, try the Harvest Grain N' Nut variety. If you keep portion size sensible and avoid calorie-packed toppings, like whipped cream and syrup, you'll be able to get your flapjack fix without blowing your diet.
