Review:
The Park Cities branch of the YMCA opened in 1944 and has served generations of people in Dallas, Texas. It is open seven days a week, beginning at 5:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. The gym has shortened weekend hours, opening at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.

The facility offers more than 100 group exercise classes ranging from yoga to kickboxing. Not all courses are fee-based, however, some do require a small fee. Classes are available for all ages, but there are also specific classes for kids and senior citizens.

The fitness center boasts more than 100 machines with fitness staff available to help guide you through a workout. Certified personal trainers are available for one-on-one sessions. An indoor pool offers open swim hours with lifeguards on duty. Older adults might enjoy arthritis aquatics to loosen their joints. For an additional fee the aquatics program offers activiites such as a swim team with competitions or swim instruction for all levels including those with disabilities.

The Park Cities YMCA has created much more than a workout destination for families. The facility hosts a kindergarten readiness program for preschoolers and there are many programs that work in conjunction with the local schools. Focusing on the education of the area teenagers, the Park Cities YMCA offers programs like Youth and Government, teaching teens about our government and giving them the tools to have leadership skills of their own, and the A.L.O.U.D. program aimed at helping teenagers avoid underage drinking.

With focus on the family, the Park Cities YMCA is well known for their youth sports programs, forming teams for seasonal sports for kindergarten through sixth grade boys and girls. Teams are formed based on elementary school sports including flag football, tackle football, soccer, t-ball, baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball and track.

When it comes to father-child bonding, the Park Cities YMCA offers Adventure Guides for the boys and Adventure Princesses for the girls. Both provide an opportunity for kids kindergarten through second grade to enjoy camp outs and special events like derby day with their dad. Overall the Park Cities YMCA offers something for everyone.
