Fit Clips: Jazzercise!

Aerobics instructors and jazzercise devotees back in the '80s had no idea how much joy their perfectly feathered hair, matching leotards and corny commentary would bring to us in the future! At That's Fit, we're rounding up a few of our favorite funny fitness videos. Some are the real deal, while others are purposely playful, but no matter what, they're sure to bring a smile to your face. If you have a favorite, please share it with us!
The kids today might be familiar with dance-based workout videos, but once upon a time, there was the glorious melding of dancing jazz and doing exercise, appropriately named jazzercise. It was a simpler time, but oh, was it ever wonderful. Behold!
Arthur's Theme
This video, featuring Judi Sheppard Misset (who, from here on out, I plan to consider the Queen of Jazzercise), exemplifies everything that's both great and cringe-worthy about jazzercise. Admit it -- back in the day, you and your friends totally wanted to wear matching leotards and do lyrical stretches to music. You know you did.
Sweet Georgia Brown
Anybody who took a dance class in the 1980s is undoubtedly familiar with the themed dance. But, for those of you who missed out on those halcyon days, here's a perfect example (once again, thanks to Judi Sheppard Misset and friends). Is it dance? Exercise? Basketball? It's a cheesy mystery!
Move Your Boogie Body
If this last clip doesn't get you giggling, there's no hope. Just imagine one of today's tough trainers (a la Jillian Michaels) doing some of these no-sweat moves (and wearing some of these matching outfits). Will we one day find this kind of hilarity in today's bootcamp-style DVDs?
