10 Diet-Friendly Pasta Dishes
Posted on Jan 28th 2010 9:00AM by PreventionThe 400 Calorie Fix, created by Prevention magazine's former editor-in-chief Liz Vaccariello, is based on the belief that most of us need 400 calories per meal to feel full and satisfied. Not to be confused with the fad 400 calorie-per day diet, this plan aims to get calorie creep under control. Vaccariello thinks clear caloric guidelines for each meal make it easier to keep track of total consumption. By following this plan, dieters eat three to four meals daily for a total intake of 1,200 to 1,600 calories, along with two or three snacks of about 200 calories each. It total the diet averages around 2,000 to 2,400 total calories daily, which she says is ideal for a moderately-active women.
The good news with the 400 calorie fix is that no food is off limits. Eat any food you want -- like pasta -- in smart portions. The dishes below each deliver about a 1-cup serving of pasta per person and are loaded with healthy extras.
