Christmas Calorie Shockers - The Fattiest Holiday Foods

Christmas isn't exactly known as a time for taking it easy on the sweets -- in fact, recent studies show that some people will eat 6,000 calories on Christmas day. That's three times your average daily recommended calorie consumption -- ouch. So considering Christmas day alone is enough to pad your waistline, it kind of boggles the mind why some people would take steps to make already bad-for-you holiday dishes even more calorific by added extra fat and sugar. Don't believe me? The people behind This Is Why You Are Fat recently named some of the most shocking holiday dishes and here are some of the highlights:
The calorie counts on these shocking concoctions hasn't been determined, but let's just assume that they're enough to induce a coronary -- literally. This Christmas, stick to the traditional favorites and remember -- watching your portion sizes will help you stay in your current clothing sizes.
- Sausage Tree. You know those delightful little cocktail wieners you find at almost all holiday parties? Some clever meat fiend thought they would be better served up on a tree with various other carnivorous delights. Mmmm, meat tree.
- Sweet Peep-Tato Pie. You love sweet potatoes with marshmallows, so why not enjoy it with marshmallows and peep candies?
- Cadbury Egg Nog. Forget traditional egg nog -- this sweet spin on the holiday favorite is made with those Cadbury Creme Eggs instead. Sounds disgustingly sweet, just like the candy.
- Triflebetes. Traditional trifle -- made with ladyfingers, fruit, custard and whipped cream -- is apparently not sweet enough, so this version is made with cotton candy, Twinkies, various candy bars, several types of cookies, caramel, rice crispy bars, pudding and brownies. Whew -- that's, like, 12 desserts all rolled into one.
- Yule Log. Don't let its appearance fool you -- this dessert definitely has more calories than anything that grows out of the ground. It's made entirely of cake, whipped cream, chocolate and sugar -- even the healthy-looking green bits.
- Pecanless Pie. What do you call a pecan pie without the pecans? Basically, it's just sugar in a flaky crust.
- Mac N' Cheese Bites. This dish is more of a county fair specialty than a holiday treat, but if you see deep-friend balls of macaroni and cheese at your next holiday party, avoid it at all costs (or at least only take one bite).
The calorie counts on these shocking concoctions hasn't been determined, but let's just assume that they're enough to induce a coronary -- literally. This Christmas, stick to the traditional favorites and remember -- watching your portion sizes will help you stay in your current clothing sizes.
