Use the Rule of Thirds

This winter, the rule of thirds can help you have the healthiest holiday season possible. The rule of thirds is basically a guideline to use when filling up your plate at cocktail parties and family dinners (or any meal!). One third of your plate should be dedicated to protein, preferably lean protein like poultry, fish or legumes, one third should be devoted to veggies and one third can be saved for carbs -- preferably whole grains, but you can include dessert in this third if it's too good to pass up.

Sounds easy enough, right? Here's another tip -- eat the protein and veggies first so you don't overdo it on the sweet stuff.
