Cabbage Soup Diet Food

What You Can Eat

The number one food is obviously homemade cabbage soup. Because the Cabbage Soup Diet insists that the more soup you eat, the more weight you'll lose, dieters tend to eat far more soup than any other foods they may be allowed to have.

Although certain newer spin-offs of the diet have tried to place restrictions of which types of fruits and vegetables you can eat on allowed days, the majority of them let you eat any kind of fruit and vegetable, no matter how low or how high they rank on the glycemic index. Bananas and potatoes are the only two on the restricted list (That is, with the exception of day 2 when it's okay to have a potato, and, day 4 when you can eat up to eight bananas.) Certain foods, such as skim milk, tomatoes, brown rice, fruit juice and meat (including beef, chicken and fish), are also staples of the diet, but only on select days.

The foods dieters aren't allowed to eat at all during the seven days are all breads, sugar and sugar-related products, pasta, white rice, eggs, cheese and soda. As for what you can drink, it varies depending on the version you follow. The standard recommendation is no alcohol or soda of any kind (regular or diet). You'll drink plenty of water (at least eight glasses a day). However, some versions of the diet also allow black coffee and unsweetened tea.
