Want to lose the weight for good? Ditch the yo-yo dieting.

Recent reports show that yo-yo dieting -- the constant up and down of being on a diet, then not, then dieting again -- has striking similarities to drug addiction. Dieters go through similar withdrawal symptoms when they attempt to give up sweets, and cravings are often too much to handle.

Unfortunately, there's no easy solution, but adopting a healthy, balanced diet that you can see yourself sticking to for the rest of your life is key. A cycle of depriving yourself to lose weight and then re-adopting your unhealthy habits will only lead to frustration and the inevitable gaining back of the weight. It's important to learn to eat for life -- not just the next big event.
