Looking for a new challenge at the gym? Give the rowing machine a try.

It might not seem like much of a workout, but rowing can provide both a cardio workout and upper and lower body toning all in one exercise -- traditional cardio workouts like running and biking can't promise the same results. Once you master the machine, you might want to consider trying the real thing in the summer to make the workout more interesting.

If you're thinking of giving rowing a whirl, there are a few rules to keep in mind, particularly when it comes to posture. Don't hunch your back, do most of the work with your legs and make sure to bend at the hips.
