Recent research suggests that those who eat junk food are more prone to depression than those who eat a balanced, nutritious diet. Why? All those nutrients in fresh, healthy food have a positive effect on not only your physical healthy -- they benefit your mental health too.

Overhauling your diet can be overwhelming, so start with a few healthy fixes. Trade your sweets for fresh fruit, switch from potato chips to whole grains or swap your afternoon soda for a cup of herbal tea.
