10 Minute Solution: Hip Hop Dance Mix
Kristin Jacobs, the video's instructor, is fit and fun to follow -- you can tell she's having a good time, but even she gets a little out of breath at times. And hey, if the instructor is getting a workout, you'd better believe that the five segments (Hip Hop Basics, Fat Burning Funk, Edgy Grooves, Body Re-Mix and Cardio Street Heat) will work you out, too!
Level of Difficulty
In terms of fitness, anyone could follow along, although my heart rate was elevated within the first 10-minute segment. Some of the dance moves were closer to intermediate.
Next Day Soreness
Little to none.
Who's It For?
Anyone who loves to dance! If you've never taken a class before, it will be more challenging, because the instruction is definitely fast-paced. However, you don't have to do things perfectly to get a good workout!
Likes
First of all, it's one of the most enjoyable hip-hop workouts I've ever done. Many of the moves are something you might see in a music video. And I felt the moves working my legs, butt, abs and more. Plus, I liked Jacobs' enthusiasm -- it made it easy to stay interested. As with all the 10 Minute Solution DVDs, you can pick and choose which sections you want to do on which day, or do them all for a longer workout.
Dislikes
I can't think of any. In fact, throughout the video, I kept thinking, "Wow, this is so much fun!" I couldn't believe how quickly it went by. The only problem is that, even though I have a bit of a dance background, I didn't pick up some of the moves on the first try. I guess that just gives me a good reason to do the video again tomorrow!
Bottom Line
I highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys hip-hop dancing. If you took a jazz class as a kid, even if you're not big on recent hip-hop music, you'll love this. And who knows? You might even bust a move or two out at the club!
If hip-hop isn't your thing, maybe you'll prefer getting fit while learning Latin dance moves.
