Exercise: Don't Overdo It

Exercise is essential, but so is taking a break from your workout.

Most of us struggle to get enough exercise, but if you're one of those impressive ultra-motivated exercisers, you should know that you can get too much of a good thing when it comes to exercise. Your body needs a certain amount of rest, and working out too much can cause an array of problems -- think muscle strain, joint pain, even injuries -- which can literally stop you in your tracks and keep you from working out at all. Yikes.

Good for you for taking fitness seriously, but give yourself permission to take a day or two off. If you still can't stand the idea of a time-out, make sure you're switching it up -- try going for a swim or taking a yoga class on your 'off' days.
