Soda: Do You Still Drink It?
Categories: Your Turn, Nutrition & Supplements
Soda habits are really not good for you. It adds unnecessary pounds to your waistline, and considering it's been fingered as a major cause of life-threatening obesity, it could even kill you.
Even diet soda is more of an enemy than a friend -- studies show it can make you fat, despite having zero calories. In fact, soda's so bad for you that it's even caught the attention of the government. That's why you should definitely give it up for good.

But have you? Despite all the warnings against it, have you managed to kick the soda habit or are you still indulging on a regular basis?
Last week, inspired by a recent episode of "The Biggest Loser," I asked if you could run a mile. So, can you?
- 54 percent say yes -- easily.
- 25 percent struggle but do it anyway.
- 11 percent don't even want to.
- 10 percent can -- sometimes.
Someone who's definitely fit enough to run a mile? Jessica Biel -- she's climbing Mount Kilimanjaro!

I just gave it up over a month ago. I haven't touched it since. I used to drink so much. It is incredibly addicting. I would get severe headaches when I wasn't drinking it. I'm so happy I'm over it now.

If even the government condemns soda, then why haven't they pulled it off the shelves? I drink diet soda, and have a healthy lifestyle - lift weights/run/bike...etc. So despite doing all those things, you're telling me I'm going to get fat bc I indulge in one can of diet soda a day???

If they tax soda, what is to stop them from taxing other fatty foods. It is absurd to tax any food containing sugary content. People should learn that in large quantities that food with such a high sugar count is bad for you. If they consume 2 gallons a day that is their business, but I wanted to drink one can of pepsi ( not that I would anymore ) I shouldn't have to pay a tax. If they are so worried about our health why not get rid of cigarettes. Just another way to make a buck and disguise it as a benefit to society. Please. I agree with you Sammy.
