Katherine Heigl Wants Nicole Richie's Body

But the "Grey's Anatomy" actress admits that she doesn't have what it takes to diet like Richie. "What stops me is that I want young girls to look at me and think: 'That's healthy, that's what I want - she's on television and she looks like me,'" she says, adding that she hates dieting and is obsessed with food. Plus, she keeps red-carpet ready by working out with celeb trainer Harley Pasternak, and she even does ab exercises while she gets manicures.
I'm glad she takes her status as a role model seriously -- but by admitting she wishes she were thinner, do you think she's a healthy one?
One celeb who's definitely a good role model is Michelle Obama -- she's in the best shape of her life!

I am very saddened that one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood finds it necessary to state that she wishes to be a role model while, at the same time, reinforcing the same unhealthy message that is causing so many young women to adopt eating disorders. If Katherine Heigl truly wished to be a role model, she never would have uttered those words. She is doing more damage from the simple fact that she does epitomize health while she wishes to appear anorexic. I am sorry to say that my opinion of this woman has changed dramatically and I hope she does whatever necessary to undo the harm she has done with this message...and sooner than later.

I always thought you were a moron, but now I know it's true....I've seen you from "My father the hero" up to "The Ugly Truth". Great actress, just not to bright sometimes............this proves it............who in their right mind would WANT to look like a WALKING CORPSE? Stay the way you are..........Don't change a thing..........you ARE NORMAL LOOKING.....Not fat, not skinny, just right..............and if "The ugly truth" of why your staying your weight, IS because of little kids.............then keep up the good work. I'm glad to hear there are still SOME brain cells left.

Please no, Katherine! Nicole Ritchie has the body of a 14 year old boy in my opinion. You, on the other hand, look like a woman. You don't need any dieting. You are beautiful just like you are.

How is Katherine Heigl complaining about wanting Nicole Richie's body she's actually of normal weight and stature. She doesnt have to deal with getting her body back after a baby since she adopted one and has never been pregnant. Nicole Richie is very thin for her height and body frame and having two babies hasnt helped her either since it only made her thinner. This is what is wrong with Hollywood they don't want normal looking people they want those who have unrealistically looking bodies that are appealing ones that have been surgically enhanced.

Definitions of the new versions of normal and unrealistic.
Normal: the amount of effort the general public is willing to put forth.
Unrealistic: anything that requires you to raise the bar, not lower it.

This is where you see the low-self esteem in come out in white females since they have to have the skinny body to be someone desireable. For Katherine Heigl to say what she said that seriously explains a woman who's got a self-esteem problem. She's not fat and she's actually normal, but when you work in an industry like Hollywood you have to take on some unhealthy ways to maintain what keeps you paid and that's a skinny body. There are thousands of girls everyday who are suffering from eating disorders and other body image issues. It's bad enough that some actresses say things like that when most of them are not overweight or fat and have to deal with being tormented about weight. Many women who have been overweight for a portion of their lives deal with social rejection and other things and watching average women like Katherine Heigl get dates and being asked out. Heigl doesnt have to worry about getting her body back since she's never been pregnant and adopted a baby so she's not having to deal with working to get a baby back post-pregnancy.

This is where you see the low-self esteem in come out in black females since Nicole Richie has the skinny body to be someone desireable. For Katherine Heigl to say what she said that seriously explains another woman who's got a self-esteem problem.
This is unfair, you are saying ALL women have self-esteem problems?
Both women look attractive to me.
Maybe we could judge from the neck up, for their work and ideas.

Katherine, your body as it is now, is as close to being perfect as any female body there is. You have a very nice this, that, and those ( if you know what I mean), why do you want your skin wrapped around a bunch of bones, instead of your skin wrapped around some nice flesh like it is now. Stay just like you are, please.

EW Nichole Richie?
Shes WAY too skinny.
This woman looks amazing and America is sending a bad message to young girls.
Now being normal weight is concidered "curvy"
I do not believe this.
Sad

Jenn, your comment above, I could not say it any better. csiblackwell, hello that is what is happening to my great country, the USA, the lowered bar is every where, most of the singers suck, need the loud music behind them to cover their bad voices. The whole idea let's lower the bar, the hell w/ doing things right.

Now that's just ridiculous! My body is similar to Katherine's and I am not fat. I have big (natural) breast and hips. I love being curvy. Your only fat (pudgy, chubby, whatever) if your stomach rolls over your pants (a lot) and you jiggle every where. (No offense to any one) I don't have that and it looks like she doesn't either. I wish more celebrities looked like her. (and Selma Hayek, Catherine Zeta Jones and the like) Women in this world who starve themselves to look absurd like Nicole Ritchie and all those other skeleton's with skin, really need help! I hope Katherine doesn't do that. She's beautiful the way she is!

I'm willing to bet dollars against donuts that if you took a poll of men of any age and we're given a choice to go out with Heigl or Ritchie, well over 70% would choose Heigl over Richie. Heigl is a beautiful woman whose body is perfect. Though Richie maybe thinner there is a point where you can be to thin.

It must be the writers' fault that Heigl doesn't believe she's skinny enough.

There is a difference between a "woman" and a stick girl. Katherine Heigel is a WOMAN. While toned muscle covered by healthy skin is always a sign of health, and is therefore most attractive, women who have curves should NEVER wish for less as long as they are healthy. Curves play a role in sexual attraction and indicate reproductive health which is sexy in itself. It is sad that healthy women should want to look more like heroin addicted little boys. I don't know who puts this kind of pressure on women, but it must be fashion designers. It certainly isn't me.

Nice, Katherine- further the never too skinny myth for young women to aspire to. You must be a very shallow person.
