Talk about a calorie-fest!

GourmetGiftBaskets.com, a New Hampshire-based company, created a two million-calorie, 4-foot tall, 1,224 pound cupcake for a Royal Oak, Mich., classic car show, reports the Detroit Free Press. The ginormous goody required 800 eggs, 200 pounds of flour, 200 pounds of sugar and 12 hours to bake.

The original goal had been to make it 7 feet tall, weighing in at 7,000 pounds, but, according to Ryan Abood, CEO of GourmetGiftBaskets.com, "[T]he weight of the expanding batter crushed one of the main convection tubes blowing hot air into the heart of the cupcake causing the batter to separate, liquefy and crush the center of the cupcake from the inside out." Whoa.

Probably two million calories is enough, even for a good cause.

The cupcake was a charitable confection -- slices of world record-breaking cupcake were served to raise donations for Susan G. Komen For the Cure. Even the most most calorie-conscious among us can hardly argue with that. Besides, isn't there some sort of rule about the calories not counting if you share, or if it's for a good cause? Just this one time, we're going to look the other way. And maybe go share a cupcake with a friend.
