Let me guess -- you probably haven't had beets since your childhood dinners at Nana's house, but as it happens, Nana might have been onto something. As Karen recently told us, beetroot juice can give your exercise stamina a much-needed boost, and it can increase your duration, too. It's thought this has to do with the nitrate in the juice that leads to an increase in oxygen supply to your muscles.

And the best part? You don't need to boil your beets like Nana did. Drinking 500ml of organic beetroot juice -- available at a health food store near you -- a day will suffice.
