Most of us are no strangers to exercise cop-outs. Some days, we're just too busy, too tired or too unmotivated to work up a sweat. CafeMom knows the drill, and they wondered about their
how their readers justified their lack of fitness. They asked, "What's your excuse for not working out?" Here's what they learned:
Six percent said there's no space to work out at home.
Thirty-three percent said the kids are always with them.
Thirty-nine percent said, " I work. I cook. I clean. I'm tired."
Twenty-two percent shared other excuses, like too-expensive gyms and boring neighborhood runs.
Many who commented on this poll shared that they've
stopped making excuses. One reader says she runs for three miles after dinner or walks with the whole family for 45 minutes, sometimes while pushing a double stroller for an added workout. Hey, it fixes that no-space-at-home thing, and there's no reason to let kids get in the way of fitness -- just add them into your routine. You don't need an expensive gym either. The great outdoors works just fine (vary your courses and play some tunes to fight boredom). And we're all busy and tired -- but as luck would have it, exercise can help fight fatigue, and you really only need about 30 vigorous minutes most days of the week to keep yourself healthy and in shape.
What's your typical exercise excuse? Or are you done making excuses?
