How Many Calories Posted on Jul 30th 2009 11:00AM by Bev Sklar
In light of Denny's salty lawsuit, let's take a look at Denny's Build Your Own Grand Slam breakfast.

With this pick-four breakfast special, you can choose from 17 options, such as eggs, toast, hash browns, sausage, bacon, turkey bacon, grits, granola, oatmeal, low-fat yogurt and fruit.

Options abound with this breakfast -- your favorite combo may look entirely different from the next table's Grand Slams.

How many calories if you build your own Grand Slam with two eggs, hash browns, two pancakes and two sausage links?

After eggs, hash browns, pancakes and sausage, you'll be sliding away from the booth with a belly full of 982 calories. Considering the sodium spotlight Denny's is currently under, you're also looking at 2,540 mg of sodium -- well over the daily recommended 2,300 mg. Pancakes are the saltiest culprit here with 1,180 mg.

Now how about a pick-four with double egg whites, fruit and an English muffin? This healthier Grand Slam ticket has only 350 calories and 487 mg of sodium. Psst, think twice before ordering granola with milk, it has a surprising 690 calories. Denny's Build Your Own Grand Slam can be a calorie bomb or a calorie keeper -- it's really up to you.
