Need some motivation to get moving? A new study shows that one essential fitness accessory can really help: A pedometer.

A pedometer not only measures the steps you take when you're walking or running, it can seriously motivate you to go even further. Using a pedometer lets you know if you're meeting, exceeding or -- as is usually the case -- falling short of the recommended 10,000 daily steps you should be taking. And once you know how far you're walking in a day, you can take steps (literally) to bump that number up.
