Dance Off the Inches: Country Line Dance - DVD Review

When it comes to music, I'm pretty open-minded. Country music isn't my top pick, but I've been known to hit a country bar with line dancing now and again. Honestly, I think line dancing is a lot of fun regardless of what song is being played, so I had zero reservations about trying out Dance Off the Inches: Country Line Dance.
Now, to be clear, this isn't going to teach you standard line dances that you'll find at line dancing bars or clubs, or play your favorite country tunes. The instructor, Amy Blackburn, teaches you three distinct dances to three instrumental songs (I didn't recognize them, but you might).
Like the other Dance Off the Inches DVDs, there is a step guide that teaches you 10 steps in 10 minutes. Once again, I didn't use it, but a few of the steps in the third dance were pretty tricky -- I probably could've used it, to be honest.
Level of Difficulty
Beginner, both in terms of fitness and dance, as long as you use the step guide. There were a couple of moves that were challenging to master (Chicken Legs kept throwing me off), but none of them were taxing.
Next Day Soreness
None at all.
Who's It For?
As you can guess, it's for fans of country line dance. It is country, with lots of funny, cute names for the steps (like Rooster Run).

I always like the way the Dance Off the Inches DVDs break the workout into three sections -- it helps time moves more quickly. And, the video is fairly short -- about 40 minutes without the step guide.
Dislikes
Even though I put as much into the moves as I could, I still hadn't broken a sweat by midway through the second dance. And I had done the same moves over and over again so many times that, I'm not going to lie -- I skipped to the third dance, and even that didn't really hold my interest very well.
Bottom Line
Of the dance-based workout videos I've reviewed, this was my least favorite. I couldn't stay interested -- the energy level just wasn't as high as it has been for others I've done. However, that doesn't mean this wouldn't be a good fit for somebody who loves country music and is looking for a low-impact workout. I won't be giving it a second try, though.
Love the line dancing? Check out some clips from the video below and decide for yourself whether it might be a good choice for you!
