Name: Wendy Alexander
Age: 45
Occupation: Occupational Therapist
How often do you exercise? Four times a week.
What type of exercise do you do? Running and working out at the gym.
What gets you to work out, even when you're feeling lazy? Signing up for 5K races keeps me motivated to stay in shape.
What's on your MP3 player? I don't own one. I like to hear nature when I'm out running.
Favorite healthy food? Any kind of fruit and a Cliff bar for breakfast.
Favorite not-so-healthy food? Chocolate chip cookies.
Greatest fitness accomplishment? Finishing a 10K and placing 2nd in my age group for a 5K race.
Best fitness advice? Make reasonable goals for yourself, like striving to work out three or four days a week versus seven days. Make exercise a part of your routine each day. I recommend putting in your schedule to do it first thing in the morning or on certain days. Working out with a friend is helpful so you can hold each other accountable.
Racing for fun and fitness is a fantastic way to keep yourself training regularly. Thanks for the inspiration, Wendy! Fitz

Congratulations Wendy! I agree that races are a great way to keep you motivated! I'm training for my first sprint triathlon on July 12th, and also signed up for the inaugural Rock N Roll Chicago Half-Marathon on August 2nd :)
