Top 5 Reasons to Always be Fit
Categories: The Passion Principle, Motivation

Being fit can improve your sex life, your outlook on life and, oh, about a million other areas of your life! Sometimes we get so focused on making our waists thinner, our butts smaller and our arms more toned that we lose sight of the benefits we get by throwing on our tennis shoes, hitting the gym and eating right!
For some extra motivation to work out and eat healthfully check out these five reasons to always be fit.
- Improves Sex Drive. No doubt about it -- both men and women who lift weights on a regular basis experience elevated levels of testosterone. When the big "T" hormone goes up, so does your desire to have sex. An added bonus for men who exercise is improved erections. Do I have you thinking it might be a good idea to hit the gym?
- Boosts the Love-Yourself Factor. People who work out on a regular basis experience heightened self-esteem! Research has shown over and over again that by simply getting a move on via walking, running and generally being active several days per week, you can really feel better about yourself. Those with the lowest self esteem usually have the greatest gain in the love-yourself arena.
You'll Be Happier. Have you ever found yourself grumbling, sluggish, in a low mood and not wanting to work out, only to find after you forced yourself to exercise that you felt SO much better? Working out will elevate happy hormones and will balance you out emotionally. Don't believe it? The next time you're grouchy, depressed and feeling like a couch potato, force yourself to exercise for at least 20 minutes. Watch out. You may be smiling by the end of your session!- Your Brain Will Work Better. During a cardio workout, blood flow, oxygen and glucose levels elevate in the brain. The more fuel for your brain, the better it will work for you. Those who regularly participate in activities that elevate heart rate for at least 12 minutes or more, hence the term cardio, experience improved memory and clearer thinking. Take it one step further by using a brain fitness training tool while you work out.
- It Will Make You a Better Parent. Being fit can help you help you manage your brood in a more patient, confident way, especially since working out helps lower hormones that cause anxiety, anger and stress. Keeping your body fit will give you more energy to deal with the never-ending list of what it takes to make sure your kids are taken care of. Point #2 really hit home for me. I have literally hopped off the treadmill feeling "giddy" and when I recently started running before work, I found that it made me a better worker -- more patient with customers, nicer to co-workers, etc.
