Boost Your Metabolism - DVD Review

boost your metabolismResults Fitness: Boost Your Metabolism promises to ignite fat burners, sculpt sexy muscles and burn more calories all day long. Plus, it shows a lean, toned woman in a bikini on the front -- sounds like the perfect way to get in shape for summer, right?

It just might be. In addition to the workout, Boost Your Metabolism offers a meal plan that provides about 1400 calories a day (and recommends that men add 300 calories a day to the menu). And, I'll tell you, if you complete a workout like this a few times a week and are careful about what you eat, you're sure to see results.

The workout consists of three cardio segments and three weight segments, so you really have a chance to work your entire body in a variety of ways. I tried it out at home, and I think it's safe to call it a challenge!

Level of Difficulty

Most of the moves were intermediate, although there were a couple of exercises that were considerably more challenging and leaning more toward expert.

Next Day Soreness
Slight, but I was surprised -- at the end of a couple of the weight moves, I was sure I wouldn't be lifting my arms the next day.

Who's It For?
It reminded me of a cardio/weight interval class I attend at my gym -- even though it was divided into segments, there weren't many pauses. So, if you like fast-paced classes, this would be a great fit for you.

Likes
The 50-minute workout flew by. Each segment was made up of several moves, often linked together. Tracey Staehl, the trainer, starts each move at Level 1, then encourages you to take things up a notch with a quick modification. It was really easy to follow along, and even when some of the moves started to burn (and oh, boy, did they!), it wasn't long before we were moving on to something new.

Dislikes
This might not be my favorite workout DVD ever, but I can't really come up with anything I disliked. The warm-up was adequate without dragging, and the workout was tough but achievable.

Bottom Line
This video will definitely stay in my workout rotation, and I'm excited to share it with friends. Totally a keeper!
