Bob Greene Special - I'm Fat Again
Categories: Diet & Weight Loss, Best Life with Bob Greene

This episode is not just about going on a master cleanse once, only to gain it all back. Instead the show follows one couple that has undergone gastric bypass, then sees the scale creep back up, and another classic yo-yo dieter who has seen her weight spike and shrink over the years.
That's Fit recently spoke with Bob to learn about what to expect when we tune in.
That's Fit: What sort of yo-yo dieters are we talking about here?
Bob: This one looks at a traditional person who goes on a diet, a chronic yo-yo dieter. But it also looks at two very common surgeries -- LAP-band and gastric bypass. The couple that had [surgery] lost some weight, but then started to put it back on. So this episode really focuses on why the statistics are so bad for people being able to keep the weight off. We also looked at 'are these procedures sound and who should have them?' In the end we found, they are appropriate for quite a few people, but you have to adopt the lifestyle change along with it.
I'm Fat Again: A Best Life Special premieres tonight at 8pm ET/PT on Discovery Health. For more information, please visit discoveryhealth.com.
TF: Do you see a difference between the mentality of people who devote themselves to a diet to lose the weight rather than those who decide to undergo surgery?
Bob: You can see a difference. For some it's a fear and the ordeal of surgery versus a higher desperation for those who are willing to risk surgery. And that desperation is what often leads people to be willing [to make other changes].
TF: And yet in this one show you find some similarities that even many of us who don't yo-yo diet can relate to.
Bob: Everyone's looking for an easier way. Many people going into it -- whether it's yo-yo dieting or surgery -- say weight is the problem. That's where the problem starts. When I hear these things I get a little bit alarmed. Even if you're just a yo-yo dieter, you're off track. That should resonate with people. You'll have a greater success if you see your excess weight as symptom, or even better, as an opportunity, whether it's a bad relationship or getting rid of stress, and then having the emotional strength to change that thing.

Hi,There is couple of things these "Doctors" miss and that is the relationship to food that people have. IT IS NOT JUST ABOUT DIET AND EXCERCISE.
How come there was no obesity problem for most of the history of the USA???
Do you think it just popped out of no where.
The answer is this..FOOD IS A PLEASURE AND NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THIS!..
the problem is the quality of the food has turned to garbage in many ways..there was no skim milk..2%..Fat free..there were no egg white omellette..but people were stronger and healthier. The problem is Depression,Stress and the poor quality of food.
It is NOT THE FAULT OF THE OVERWEIGHT PERSON
YOU CAN EAT WHATEVER YOU WANT WHEN YOU ARE HAPPY AND YOU WILL STILL BE HEALTHY.
The problem is the depression and stress lifestyle..
Cure depression naturally and watch people lose weight naturally www.scribd.com/doc/15757996/Cure-Depression-Naturally-Today
These tv shows will never blame the "Guru"..it will always throw the blame at the dieter.
Some have figured out the problem is Depression and our drug society..this is what is causing the overweight problem not the dieter http://spirithappy.wordpress.com/2009/05/21/it-is-time-to-cure-depression-naturally/
