Hugh Jackman "Ridiculously Fit" for Wolverine Role
Categories: Celebs & Entertainment
There's a lot to like about Hugh Jackman. He's a good dad and husband, a philanthropist and an award-winning actor. Oh, and let's not forget he's totally hot. That was before he started working out for his new movie "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." Now? According to the actor himself, he's "ridiculously fit."
"I had in my head that I've got to be in much better shape ... not better shape, different shape," Jackman recently said in an interview about his character Wolverine. "Kind of, ridiculous shape." Ridiculous isn't the word I'd use, but take a look at the video below and judge for yourself.
Jackman jokes that when he watched himself on video, he didn't even recognize himself. "I was a little frightened when I watched it. I was like 'Is that me?' Deb (his wife) was like 'Phew. This is ridiculous. I don't even know who that is.' "
So how did Jackman get so jacked for his Wolverine role? Hard work, perseverance and one- to two-hour intense workouts, five days a week. Jackman and his trainers focused on making him leaner, but cut. "In Wolverine, Hugh looks big onscreen, but really he's just ripped," Jackman's personal trainer Mike Ryan told Men's Fitness. "That's the secret to looking good. It's not just about getting big, it's about getting ripped."
Here are some highlights:
Jackman also mixed yoga and pilates into his routine to create that long, lean and powerful look that's making us drool.

Here are some highlights:
- Jackman took an ice cold shower every morning -- without screaming -- to practice his "rage." But he also worked out in the mornings, without fail ... even if that meant getting up at 4 a.m..
- Cardio always came first and last -- at least 10 minutes before the weights and 20 minutes after.
- Jackman's trainer used "progressive overload," constantly increasing the amount of weight, and mixed things up by changing the tempo, speed, incline and grip.
- They used "supersets," or immediately moving into the second set of lifts after the first had finished.
Jackman also mixed yoga and pilates into his routine to create that long, lean and powerful look that's making us drool.
