A Dollar Menu for Healthy Snacks

From homemade granola to easy edamame, Never Say Diet suggests a few healthy snacks for around $1 to avoid sliding your hard-earned money and body into the vending machine abyss of processed food.

Pencil In This Grocery List -- For about $28, buy
whole-grain flat bread, rolled oats, dried fruits, nuts, honey, cumin, cinnamon, 100-percent juice, lemon, frozen edamame and canned chickpeas.

Now you're ready to make these Vending Strike Snacks:

  • Homemade hummus for $1.29 per serving
  • Cheap edamame at $.90 per serving
  • At-Home granola at $1.12 per serving -- baking granola smells wonderful.
  • 100-Calorie Snack Packs that Big Food didn't make, for $1.14 per serving
  • Popsicles -- for just pennies, I freeze yogurt pops with fresh fruit and flax seed all summer long.
