Cook Yourself Thin
Categories: Diet & Weight Loss, Nutrition & Supplements
There are a million ways to reach a trim figure, but Lifetime Television series "Cook Yourself Thin" reminds everyone that one surefire path is through your own kitchen. The American incarnation of the popular British series of the same name, "Cook Yourself Thin," is also Amazon's #1 selling book.
The cookbook offers recipes from the show, which takes favorites such as lasagna and chocolate cake and replaces them with easy, healthier versions while "doubling the flavor," according to the show's website.
The three stars, Candice Kumai, Harry Eastwood and Allison Fishman are not dietitians, they are chefs, so they do know a little something about flavor. With training from some of the world's most prestigious cooking schools, the trio is dedicated to setting their guests up in the kitchen to finally make culinary changes that will stick.
The idea of revamping recipes for healthy at-home meals is certainly not novel, but the popularity of "Cook Yourself Thin" shows that this trend has staying power.
However, any recipe at home tends to be healthier than a restaurant meal, so I wonder if the popularity of the show is embedded in the simplicity of getting people to eat home-cooked meals.
Have you been watching the show? Have you already bought the cookbook?

I actually stumbled on that show yesterday, and it's great. I love that its those "bad foods" we love revamped to be healthier. I have my fair share of diet books already so I doubt I'll be purchasing it anytime soon, but I will be watching/dvring it. :)

In addition to non-genetic, obesity is the most important reasons for eating.

The "Skinny Girl" by Bethenny Frankel stuff is pretty good too. Both books, (The Cook Yourself Thin one too) show numerous very simple ways to make small changes in your diet, insignificant really, that will make huge changes in your health and dress size!
