Donna Pyatt

Donna Pyatt, 44, of Orange County, CA, weighed in at 205 pounds when she began training at LA Boxing. Five months later, she'd dropped eight sizes and 50 pounds. Here, she reveals why boxing worked for her and how she's keeping the weight off now.
That's Fit: Can you describe a typical workout?
Pyatt: My typical workout is a one hour kickboxing class and a one hour personal training session (one-on-one boxing and weightlifting) or hiking usually five to six days a week. Most of the time I go to Peter's Canyon Regional Park in Orange County [and I usually] hike one to two hours.

That's Fit: Do you think you will keep it up?
Pyatt: I will definitely continue this because LA Boxing classes are fun; it's not a struggle for me. I'm not going to say it wasn't challenging; however, I was really mentally prepared. My trainer Bryson Miller was a huge support for me. He also made it fun. My routine now is such a big part of my life I totally enjoy it.
That's Fit: What is your weight now? Are you working on maintaining, or are you still trying to lose?
Pyatt: Right now I weigh 155 pounds. What I'm working on now is body fat, because I still want to decrease my body fat percentage. My body fat when I started was 37 percent. I'm now at 23.9 percent and my goal is 23 percent.
