Name: Emily Wisely
Age: 20
Occupation: Student
How often do you exercise? Not often enough, but I'm determined to improve.
What type of exercise do you do? I lift weights a couple times a week. I ran throughout high school on my cross country team, but I've slacked since I've been in college. Determined to change that, though!
What gets you to work out, even when you're feeling lazy? I go online and look at health websites! The articles and tips charge me up with energy!
What's on your MP3 player? Lots of indie music: Death Cab, Bright Eyes, Brand New, the Arcade Fire. I work out to anything upbeat and fun.
Favorite healthy food? There are so many! I love blueberries, granola, fresh guacamole and V-8 for snacks. Grilled salmon and asparagus over brown rice is one of my favorite meals. I also love the "naked bowl" from Chipotle: black beans, pico de gallo, and guacamole over white rice.
Favorite not-so-healthy food? Cheese pizza, cranberry-limeades from Sonic and sometimes hot wings.
Greatest fitness accomplishment? Not many as of late, but in high school I greatly improved my running skills. That wasn't too long ago so I hope to catch back up, and then exceed my expectations.
Best fitness advice? I don't give advice too much, but I know that being active doesn't do much for you unless you change your eating habits. I also know that "diets" only have temporary results. After a couple of months, the person dieting goes back to his/her habits and gains the weight back. By changing your lifestyle by incorporating more fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean meat, one will burn useless fat and improve the overall health of his body. I've been thin my whole life so I've never dieted, but I did begin eating healthy foods. Over the past couple of years, I've noticed that I eat less and less of the the unhealthy foods I used to. I've replaced candy bars with granola bars, I replace ham with turkey on sandwiches which are made with whole grain bread, of course! Anyway, this was a long bit of advice, but I can't talk enough about this topic!
You can do this Emily! A healthy lifestyle is in your future for sure! Keep at it, Fitz.
