Club Sandwich - How Many Calories?

To me, nothing says spring quite like long leisurely lunches with friends on warm afternoons. And nothing says lunch quite like a sandwich. Opting for a fresh sandwich loaded with veggies and topped off with whole grain bread over something laden with fat and calories, like a burger, seems like the healthy way to go. And I always give myself bonus points for ordering a salad on the side instead of the standard fries.
But are sandwiches always the healthier option? Take one of my favorite -- the club -- and tell me.

The answer, according to the Calorie King Calorie Fat & Carbohydrate Counter, is 1,030 calories in a clubhouse sandwich meal from Johnny Rocket's -- about the same as two big macs.
However, when you consider what's actually in a clubhouse sandwich, it's pretty obvious that it's not the healthiest choice out there. It's got chicken, bacon, cheese, mayo and four slices of bread (and that's around 400 calories right there). You'd be better off going for a normal-sized sandwich, like a BLT.
Another way to make your clubhouse healthier? Order it with mustard instead of mayo and you'll cut the calories without slashing any taste.
