Applebee's Hides Behind Weight Watchers

Applebee'sDid you know Applebee's doesn't publish nutritional content of their whole menu, except where required by law? "News4Jax" says so, and after checking Applebee's website, it's true. In this day and age, that's ridiculous.

I gave a call to Applebee's yesterday asking why they don't list nutritional information on-line, and received this e-mail response from Miles McMillin this morning: "Applebee's is compliant with the law in those local markets that require calorie disclosure. As the world's largest casual dining restaurant chain with very broad and widespread menu offerings, the process of providing and maintaining caloric information for guests is a complicated, integral process." Hmm ... if Chili's can do it, why can't Applebee's?

Two thumbs up on their Weight Watchers (WW) offerings, where they kindly list WW point values, but the reveal ends there. Sorta makes me think they're hiding the full story by rallying around the WW flag. They should list every item, including those Boneless Buffalo Wings with Ranch Dressing, which "The Daily Plate" cites at about a whopping 1,724 calories and a shocking-triple-digit 132 grams of fat.

Until Applebee's gets a clue -- busy, active consumers want more nutritional information these days -- check out "The Daily Plate" (now located at LIVESTRONG.COM) to find out the real caloric deal before heading in.
