jj giesName: JJ Gies

Age: 35 +

Occupation: Utility Player, part time student, teacher and customer service.

How often do you exercise? I used to train six days a week with one day of rest, but because of the tumor in my foot, I am limited to working out every other day.

What type of exercise do you do? Rollerblading, mountain biking and lifting weights. On a good day, I play beach volleyball.

What gets you to work out, even when you're feeling lazy? I just convince myself that no matter the pain or how I feel that the end results justify the means, Plus I know that after a workout i feel so much better all around.

What's on your MP3 player? The "Extreme Days" CD and Creed to name a couple.

Favorite healthy food? Grilled chicken, whole wheat pasta and veggies mixed in a good Italian pasta sauce.

Favorite not-so-healthy food? Chicken wings and Cherry Coke.

Greatest fitness accomplishment? I have been blessed to be in many football tournaments, but my all-time favorite was a weekend in December five years ago. We played an all-day flag football tourney in which a throw-together team claimed third place in Vero beach. We then drove home that night to be up at 6 a.m. the next morning to participate in the "Kids in Distress" bike race. It went from Ft. Lauderdale Beach up to Palm Beach County and back; it was there that I finished first in my category, the 30-mile part.

Best fitness advice? Just do it in moderation at times, but don't give up on yourself. And if you ever want to challenge someone, challenge yourself. It works!

**I like your style JJ - perseverance pays off! I'm proud of you. Fitz
