Biggest Loser Couples - 15,000-Calorie Binge Gone Bad
Categories: Diet & Weight Loss, Fitness, Celebs & Entertainment

Face-Off Pop Challenge -- Each week is getting unpredictable over at Biggest Loser, just the way producers like it. The player that performed a thigh-burning Wall Sit the longest won the ability to assign one-on-one Black versus Blue match-ups for the week. One player from each team would be paired with a player from the other team, whoever won the most weight scored a point for their team. Tara narrowly beat Mandi at the Wall Sit -- try these, they're nasty hard -- and assigned Mike vs. Cathy; Sione vs. Mandi; Filipe vs. Kristin, Helen vs. Ron and Laura vs. Aubrey. Surprisingly, she didn't put herself into play. Did Tara play it right? Read on.
Relay for Luxury -- I loved this relay race to win 24 hours of luxury for the entire team at a California resort. Players hauled 24 six-pound medicine balls across the pool, up the stairs, under obstacles and up/down in hundreds of squats. Loser Blue stayed close, but Black was unbeatable again. But maybe this wasn't the best prize to win.
Binge Gone Bad -- I've been impressed with this season's contestants ... until now. After Black jumped into a black stretch for a ranch-free 24 hours, they lost their heads like a pack of Red-Bulled teenagers. They scarfed more than 15,563 calories packed with fatty filet mignon, mashed potatoes and stuffed chicken, double tequila shots, more drinks, then Filipe ordered late-night chicken tenders and fries. Helen even sucked down a smoke. The whole scene was just gross, reminding me of a guy I knew who lost a ton of weight on a restrictive diet, then celebrated his 'accomplishment' with a major gorge at a steak joint. Yes, he gained all the weight back shortly thereafter. If you lose weight and want to keep it off, those new diet and fitness habits are for a lifetime, not a short time. This was the most important point of this episode -- so many people yo-yo around this fact all their lives.
1,612 Calories For Blue -- Blue took advantage of alone time in the gym and consumed just 1,612 calories for their dinner. Was it enough to beat Black?
Filipe Flips Out -- When Jillian found out Black had eaten and drank themselves silly, she was furious. Sure, they're adults, but they've chosen to be on "Biggest Loser" and follow her guidance. Filipe flipped out, accusing Jillian of turning her back on him in the gym. He and Sione ran off to train with Bob instead. The whole story is always gray on a reality show, but couldn't Filipe have had a calm conversation with Jillian first? For once, Jillian was speechless.
Don't-Miss-Trainer-Gems
- Bob says nine out of 10 of us don't get enough fiber each day. To improve digestion and feel fuller longer, track and consume fiber just like you maintain proper calories, fat, carbs and protein. Fiber One snack bars are one way to score one-third of your daily fiber at around 140 calories each. I like 'em, but can't buy 'em -- they trigger my sweet tooth.
- Combining protein with carbs and fat can increase fullness and sustain your energy, says Jillian. Serve cantaloupe with your eggs, toss beans on your salad -- think 'combination' here, one reason I love salad bars so much. I had pineapple with my eggs this morning thanks to this tip.
Black was force fed a big slice of humble pie after the weigh-in as Laura gained a pound and Tara saw a big zero on the scale. But at the face-off level, it was amazingly enough to beat Blue. Black had three wins (Mike beat Cathy, Helen beat Ron and Sione beat Mandi) versus Blue's two (Kristin beat Filipe, Aubrey beat Laura). Mandi sent herself home to allow her little sister Aubrey to stay at the ranch and keep fighting. Mandi is back with Rusty and the boys -- her new energy for living is washing over the whole family. They're hiking together, choosing asparagus spears over 'fat snacks,' and Mandi hopes her original size 28 will be a size two at the finale. Tune in next week as players head home for a Biggest Loser Homecoming Event. Maybe just what they need to stay off the binge track. See you next week.

we were crazy that the blue team can't figure out that if they keep voting off their strongest players they will never win! Ron should of been sent home before Dane or Mandi but instead he controls the blue team!!! what?!?!?

Blue team is clueless. They will all be gone.
I was furious at Felipe for how he acted. He could have talked it over with Jillian. Instead he acted like a baby and ran to Bob. They have a little Bromance going on I think.
Oh and Felipe did not bother to mention the chicken fingers, fries and booze to Bob when he was crying on his shoulder.
I would like to see Bob react to his behavior from the 24 hour binge.

I just want to mention one thing about this quote from your blog:
"15,563 calories packed with fatty filet mignon, mashed potatoes and stuffed chicken, double tequila shots, more drinks, then Filipe ordered late-night chicken tenders and fries"
That was disgusting to be sure...but the note above seems to imply that a filet mignon was part of the problem.
Filet is the leanest cut of steak you can get, so it you eat that with a healthy salad and low fat dressing, rather than mashed potatoes, it is a solid option. Low fat, high protein. So the filet wasn't really the issue, it was the sides that made that a bad choice.
Signed...a serious steak lover!

Dear Mark (aka serious steak lover),
Sorry to attack that filet -- you're right. At around 3 grams of saturated fat per 3 ounces, filet mignon is a lean, protein-packed choice. But from an overall calorie picture, the filet mignon entree with mashed potatoes they ordered had way more calories (1,540) than Tara's roasted halibut entree (462) or Helen's jumbo shrimp cocktail (228). What were they thinking?
Grilling season is coming soon, have a good one. Thanks for sharing,
Bev
