Dry Shampoo - It's Back and You Need It
Categories: Reviews & Products

Over the last few months, I've been hearing more and more about dry shampoo. Maybe because everyone is trying to conserve water (or conserve money) by not taking so many long showers. Or maybe it's because more companies are making it easier to use, like the Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Shampoo Spray.
I had a chance to try out Oscar Blandi's new Pronto Dry Shampoo Spray, and I've got to say, this is something that every girl who gets ready in a hurry after a workout should have. Trust me -- I used it after a serious sweat session, and my hair looked great, and it only took a few minutes for me to be ready to head out the door! This spray is super easy to use (spray it onto your roots in sections from about six inches away, let it dry, shake out excess with fingers, brush and style). It's designed to absorb oil and product (check), increase volume at roots (check) and strengthen hair and nourish the scalp (not sure yet, but I'm guessing it's doing something good). And, it has a fresh lemon verbena scent, which I really liked.
I don't know about your post-workout beauty routine, but I can tell you for a fact that, if I'm getting ready at the gym (or getting ready in a hurry at home), the first thing I ditch is shampooing my hair. It saves a ton of time, and if I can avoid getting my hair wet at all, even better.
Now, this specific product was actually designed for use on studio shoots, where models really can't wash their hair between styles. I'm thinking, if it works well enough to be professionally photographed, it certainly works well enough to make me presentable for my far-less-glamorous daily activities.

I don't remotely get this -- you're covered in sweat, but if you can spray stuff on your hair to dry it out, all is OK?

Not exactly -- you don't want to spray it in hair that's soaking with sweat, but once it's dried out a bit (either using a blow dryer or just because you've showered and dressed and it's dried in the meantime), you use this and it basically makes your hair look clean, rather than looking like you were sweaty and then it dried. My hair was still a little damp (because I sweat a LOT), and it still worked really well and left my hair looking nice and clean.
Sorry if that wasn't clear! I assumed most people were familiar with the basic concept of dry shampoo, but I should have explained it better. Hope this helps!

I just use some baby powder and it works pretty well on days when I don't feel like washing my hair/need to refresh it after a workout. Of course, it worked better when I had platinum blonde/white hair, when I could practically dump the stuff on my head. Now that I have auburn hair, I put some in my hand first, rub my hands together and fluff it through my hair. Works and it's cheap!
