Walking the Walk - Day 1

jumping jacksDay 1: I'm really excited about this week. Even though I'm a work-at-home mom and have a flexible schedule, some days I don't stop from breakfast to bedtime. Squeezing in a workout can be tough. But squeezing in 10 minutes of sweat time? That doesn't seem so hard. This just might be the solution for me.

My first 10 minutes is a furious dance session with my three-year-old, where I even managed to get in some lunges. Plus, it does double duty as quality time. Score! Later, after lunch, I do Leslie Sansone's Walk At Home one-mile workout -- just 15 minutes long.

I'm trapped in the house today due to bad weather, so time to get creative -- calisthenics with the kids after school. I take them through a 10-minute routine of jumping jacks, jogging in place, crunches and my very weak attempt at push-ups.

I'm embarrassed to admit that it's more exercise than I've gotten over the last four days, but it's also more exercise than I've gotten over the last four days, so maybe this really is the answer to my exercise excuses.
