Walking the Walk - The Verdict

walnutsIt's time to decide -- is this a healthy habit that can be realistically worked into day-to-day life?

  • Piece of cake! I can definitely work this into my daily routine.
  • Not my cup of tea. This is harder than I imagined. Still, I plan to stick with it and do my best.
  • Nuts! This seems nearly impossible to keep up. But I'll definitely do it whenever possible.

Nuts! I'm always hesitant in "Walking the Walk" to tell readers that I didn't like something. Because just because it didn't work for me, doesn't mean it might not work for you. There are plenty of health experts out there who believe that spreading your calories out across the day will boost your metabolism and help you eat less. But studies that have tackled this issue have been inconclusive -- three meals or six meals, it doesn't seem to matter.

What I did discover this week, though, is that I wasn't snacking as much. When I work, I get munchy-munchy ... reaching for those quick carbs that will give my brain a boost. But I was eating so frequently and so nutritiously, those cravings kind of disappeared. Could the same be done if I'd just stick to my old three meals/two snacks plan? Sure.

As always, it's all about what works for you. This plan left me feeling frustrated and too consumed by what I was going to eat next. But there are definite benefits, too.
