A Pint of Ben & Jerry's - How Many Calories?

Come Saturday, you might be spending Valentine's Day with that special someone. You might be spending it on the town with some good friends. Or, if you're anything like Bridget Jones, you might be spending it in your pajamas with your cats, Terms of Endearment on the DVD player and a fridge stocked with all those foods that will make you feel better when you're a bit blue. Hey, I'm not judging -- I've spent my share of February 14ths in a similar fashion.

Let's imagine you spend the evening with a pint of Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream. It probably won't come as a surprise that it's not calorie-free, but is a bit of ice cream really that bad?

How Many Calories ... in a pint of Ben & Jerry's Cookie Dough Ice Cream?
230 calories22 (2.2%)
560 calories108 (10.9%)
668 calories198 (19.9%)
920 calories667 (67.0%)
Yep, it is that bad. There are 920 calorie and 48 g of fat in a pint of this ice cream. The silver lining, I guess, is that this isn't as bad as eating a whole box of Valentine's chocolates yourself, but you'd still have to run for at least a couple of hours to burn this off.

May I make a suggestion? If you're single this Valentine's day and you're not happy about it, don't use your emotions as an excuse to pig out and be lazy -- instead, do something productive. A night out with friends could make the evening a great one, but if you really just want to spend it in front of the TV, make sure you go for a run beforehand. And there's nothing wrong with a little ice cream here and there -- just make sure you stick to one serving at 230 calories and 12 g of fat, because eating the whole pint is the equivalent of eating four servings. And switching to the 'light' version couldn't hurt either.
