Jessica Simpson - Cartoon Pokes Fun at Her Weight Gain
Categories: Celebs & Entertainment
Jessica Simpson has gained weight. This isn't exactly hot-off-the-press news; Kristen reported on Jessica's weight gain back in September. But, ever since she wore an less-than-flattering outfit at a concert last weekend, Jessica's added pounds have been all over the internet. Even sister Ashlee Simpson-Wentz weighed in on the media frenzy. But the January 28th New York Post cartoon goes too far. (After you click the link, you'll need to select the date to view the Jessica Simpson cartoon.) Yes, Jessica is light years from her super-fit Daisy Duke-wearing body. But she certainly doesn't look like the ridiculously obese image in the cartoon.
In my opinion, Jessica has gained some weight but she still looks good. Her stylist picked out some horrible clothes for her, though. And we all know the media circus that can ensue when a star gains a few pounds and then makes a bad wardrobe choice, right? (Think Britney Spears.)

Yes, I think Jessica looks just fine - I actually prefer celebrities who look like normal people rather than anorexia sufferers or plastic surgery refugees that normal human beings don't look like or identify with. How many of us have an extra $50,000 laying around to get every jiggle vacuumed out, breast inflated, body part or wrinkle lifted? These celebs look like this because they spend exorbitant amounts of money at Dr. 90210's office, not because they all exercise more than we do (well some, like Madonna, perhaps do). But back to Jessica - I was disappointed when she had her chest done because to me she was just another celeb selling out because her agents told her she needed bigger ones. But with this whole recent weight gain thing, I am pleasantly surprised at her independent attitude and her "so what, I gained a little weight, who wants to be skinny anyway" attitude. Way to go, Jessica. About the only negative thing I can see is those jeans are weird looking, as is the belt. Janet Jackson uses this trick also - always wearing big, thick hold-it-all-in belts to try and smash the tummy down. Girls, get rid of the gusset belts, spanx and control top pantyhose....just be who you are and be happy (and comfortable).

I think the world would be a better place if the media talked about more relevant and important topics than the random dirty laundry of public figures.
