The Biggest Loser
Curtis Stone
It may have been NFL Week over at the Biggest Loser Couples, but who cares. Even a surprise visit at the immunity challenge by NFL MVP Kurt Warner took a backseat to this hot Aussie chef we couldn't stop looking at, Curtis Stone. Not only is he delicious looking, he artfully taught BL fans how to concoct flavorful dishes low in fat and calories. Read on for an episode packed with cooking, fitness and diet tips, and of course, a sad farewell to one more team.

Superbowl Snacks -- Chef Curtis quizzed contestants on the calorie amounts of favorite Superbowl snacks. The winner garnered his at-home teammate a 2-pound pass at the next weigh in and a healthy cooking class with Curtis. How many calories do you think are in these three appetizers?

Chicken wings with ranch, Bread Bowl Chili with sour cream, Seven-Layer Dip and chips

Dan won this challenge easily, and David back in South Carolina could really use this cooking lesson with Curtis -- he's still hitting the buffets. The correct answer is 991, 1,165 and 1,755 -- ugh.

Add Flavor to Avoid Fried -- Curtis showed David how to impart fantastic flavor into his foods without deep-frying. Cilantro, coriander, and a whole host of spices rocked out a pounded chicken breast grilled on the Biggest Loser Grill and Panini Maker. Expand your spice collection and seek out recipes to sprinkle them on your lean proteins and low-fat glazes/sauces. Curtis prepared these under-300-calorie Rosemary Skewered Chicken Kabobs with Orange Glaze that looked out of this world.

Anything Is Possible With Commitment -- NFL Star Kurt Warner explained how he fought past the naysayers during his arena football career and finally landed in the NFL to become a two-time NFL MVP. Biggest Loser screams this message every week, showing millions of viewers morbid obesity can be overcome. Low-under-the-radar Helen won a football shuttle elimination game for immunity, guaranteeing her daughter Shannon's return to the ranch. I like Helen. She's slimming down and reports she's finding her self-esteem all over again.

And Jillian's Next Puke Victim Is ... -- Luckily I don't get nauseous when I see others losing their lunch, so these scenes are amusing. Jillian relentlessly pushed Dan to break through a barrier this week to complete a five-minute run on the treadmill. He never thought it was possible to not be fat, and Sergeant Jillian has taught him otherwise, in between a heave or two, of course.

Don't Miss Trainer Gems

  • Bob shared Fiber One cereal is a great way to start your day. With 14 grams of fiber per half cup -- that's half of your daily fiber requirement -- and a little milk, you're out only 100 calories. In that case, I'd pour one full cup. I'm not much into these BL product placements, but this is one cereal I plan on buying, after I eat that new box of Grape-Nuts at half the fiber (it was on sale).
  • Is Your New Year's Resolution Over? Jillian shared it's likely you were pressuring yourself to make big changes. Try focusing on small steps, like putting a stop on needless snacking after 3:00 pm. Pop some sugar-free gum instead. This philosophy works well for me. Tiny changes energize and broaden my diet and fitness goals.

Contestants had a moment of pure joy as their better half returned to the ranch before the weigh-in. Joelle's had a major turnaround in attitude and effort, which resulted in a 10 pound loss. Brown's Mike and Ron and Orange's Dan and David dropped below the yellow line this week, a real shame considering Mike and Dan are the youngest contestants on the show. In a close vote, Dan and lackluster David were sent packing, but I don't feel bad anymore after witnessing their amazing transformations since the ranch. Dan has lost over 100 pounds, is off his type 2 diabetes oral meds and looks like a different guy. David is shedding, too. Don't you love it? See you next week.
