Walking the Walk - Day 5

winter benchDay 5: I was just thinking the other day that this would be a lot easier if it were summer. In the warmer months, we're outside right up until bedtime, and we're far more active in the spring and fall too.

But it's the dead of winter here. It's less than 10 degrees outside and it gets dark at 5 PM. Of course I want to curl up on the couch and eat. What else is there to do?

Eating for entertainment is a big part of late-night snacking, I think. I find myself getting bored and walking toward the kitchen. Except it's closed, and there's a small hand-written sign on my counter top reminding me of that. It's really interesting to me how when you remove yourself from the action of overeating, you can piece out exactly what it is that causes it.

The causes of my late-night snacking? One, habit, and two, boredom.
