Eat Your Way Diabetes-Free

Posted on Jan 23rd 2009 6:00AM by Jacki Donaldson
Food, all by itself, may not directly cause diabetes, but what you eat can up your risk of developing the disease.

Check out these Family Circle stats: You can lower your diabetes risk by 15 percent by eating whole grains, fruits and nuts, low-fat dairy and leafy green veggies. You can spike your risk by 18 percent by eating red meat, full-fat dairy and refined grains, like white bread.

Time to edit that grocery list -- make sure only the healthiest foods remain.
