Track Your Swim With the Finis Lap Track
Categories: Fitness

I love swimming laps -- I might not be able to run long distances (at least, not at a respectable pace), but swimming? Swimming, I can do forever. In fact, I often swim long enough that I completely lose track of how many laps I've done.
Obviously, other people have this problem, because there is a solution -- the Finis Lap Track. This device can attach to the side of the pool in a variety of ways (suction cups or a weight bag and hanging arm -- see the site for a picture), and performs several functions.First and foremost, it counts your laps, and the whole thing is a button, so you don't have to try to find any small buttons to push -- just bop the entire thing. It can also keep track of split times and calories burned. And, you can opt to count up, or, if you have a set number you want to reach, you can count down to zero.
This sounds extremely cool to me, but the woman doing the review of the product did point out a few ways in which the Finis Lap Track could be improved. She was comparing the functions to what her sports watch could do, though, and since I don't have a watch that counts my laps, I might like it better.
For $74.99, I might wait until I hear some more positive reviews. However, I'm curious -- do you have a method or device (other than your own memory) for counting your laps at the pool?

Heh, that might be kinda cool to have. =D I never have any idea of how many laps I've swam. It would be good to try to do more laps every time I swim, but I don't have an extra $80 lying around, so I probably won't be getting a Finis Lap Track, like, ever. XD

A super easy way to keep track of your laps is to bring pennies or pebbles or poker chips (or whatever you want) and keep them next to your lane. When you complete a lap, start a pile of pennies to keep track. Move one penny each lap, or after a set amount of laps (every 100, 200, etc.). It doesn't keep track of your split times, but you can use a watch for that.
