Beer - Is Organic Better for Your Body?
Categories: Nutrition & Supplements
If beer is your thing, you'll want to find some brewskies that are as healthy as possible. You know, because with all the liquid calories, the stuff is not the best bet for your body.A word to the wise beer drinker: Go organic, says beer blogger Matt Simpson. Why? "You're not only treating the Earth and your community to healthy agricultural and economic systems, but you're treating your body as well," says the beer boy. Maybe this is why organic brews are growing at a steady pace while other segments of the economy are falling flat.
What exactly makes a beer organic? It's got to be free of synthetic pesticides, fertilizers and processes. It still has regular old hops, though (the stuff that gives beer its tangy aroma and flavor), because hops they are too hard to grow organically. And how does it taste? Many say better than non-organic varieties. Maybe just knowing it's healthier for the body and the planet makes them seem tops. See for yourself -- check out this listing of the 10 best and consider throwing back one or two -- but only one or two, and only occasionally, OK?

Liquid calories? Such a tired argument. There are more calories in a 12-ounce serving of milk or fresh orange juice than in a beer. Why not advocate not drinking milk or OJ?
