Many people can tell you how to lose weight. But success comes from your own motivation.
Jillian Michaels shares some tips for keeping your motivation up while trying to lose weight:
- Make a list. List all the reasons losing weight is important to you. Sure, external factors like looking good for your class reunion are great, but also list the internal reasons weight loss is critical for you. Maybe you want to improve your health, maybe your self esteem needs a boost or maybe you're going to choose to deal with your reasons for emotional eating in a healthier way.
- Be realistic. Do you want to run a marathon? That's great! But don't expect to reach that goal quickly if you haven't been exercising. Instead, set realistic goals for yourself -- maybe start walking for 30 minutes every day and train to walk in an upcoming 5K.
- Get out of victim mode. You are in control of what you eat and how you take care of your body. Take responsibility for your actions. When you realize the control is yours, you're more likely to stay motivated and make wise choices.
